In November 2005, Blue Chip Marketing commissiond me on behalf of Gorton's Seafood to build 8 sculptures of the Gortons' Fisherman, as seen in their logo.

Coming to a supermarket near you
From February 25, 2006 to March 19, 2006, the models will be visiting about 100 supermarkets across six metro areas: Los Angeles, Chicago, Indianapolis, San Antonio, Harrisburg, and Charlotte.  (See full schedule below.)  Two of the models will go on permanent display in Gorton's headquarters and their marketing firm's headquarters.







Each model is 2 feet tall from the waist to the head, and contains about 6,000 LEGO elements.  If you stacked the LEGO bricks from all 8 Gortons' Fishermen one on top of another, they'd reach higher than the Empire State Building! The entire project spanned from mid-November 2005 to early February 2006, including over 350 hours of model building.

A funny coincidence: midway through this project, a friend asked me to build Disney's Nemo and Marlin as a gift for her brother.  What are the chances I would be asked to build a fish & a fisherman at the same time? :)
