Flannel sheets made in Portugal or Germany are the best quality. Fabric should be dense and heavy, cushiony with a high thread count. If the initial surface is too fuzzy, you will get pilling and lose a lot of lint everytime you wash&dry. The dryer is the enemy of flannel sheets, as you learn every time you empty your lint screen!
